BILINGUAL TRAINING SINCE 2018

We are currently supporting 55 apprentices in various fields all over Togo. For the future we are planning an interdisciplinary training center.

A German-Togolese family is providing our association kommTOGOgehweiter eV with a piece of land in Dévikimme, which is intended to serve innovative projects for young people. Our association would like to give impoverished young adults in Togo better job opportunities in Togo through basic training, further training and smaller modules of additional qualifications and to bind them more to their country. The training center will be based on modern standards and will be an international and interdisciplinary center

SUPPORT OF THE GERMAN CLUBS SINCE 2008

German clubs sometimes exist at grammar schools. In the meantime, on our initiative, there is an increasing cooperation of schools that invite each other to cultural days. The German language is in the foreground - and through lectures of poems, skits, songs and competitions, the students outdo each other to further educate each other linguistically. Exercise is also not neglected in sporting tournaments, for the past two years there has also been an increasing interest in dodgeball. To make this possible, the German clubs regularly receive small grants from us.

RENOVATION OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CARRIAGE RIDER 2010

HUMANITARIAN VACATION

In 2010 the renovation of the Kutschenritter elementary school in Aného was due. The rector asked us to help. Together with a group from our association, we not only organized funds, but also a humanitarian vacation to Togo (privately financed by everyone, of course). For a week we worked together vigorously. Togolese and Germans dragged, cleaned, built and repainted the school. In addition:

  1. the sanitary facilities renovated and equipped with running water

  2. three classrooms renovated and partly equipped with school desks and tables

  3. missing gates and doors at the entrances to the school premises replaced

SCHOOL PARTNERSHIP GUGY + LYZA 2008-2009

Based on a sponsored run at the Gutenberg-Gymnasium (Gugy) in Bergheim near Cologne, various projects were implemented at the Lycée de Zébévi (Lyza) in Aného / Togo.

To this day there is a lively exchange between Lyza and our association. Thanks to our partnership, more than half of all Lyza students are now motivated to learn German. More than 500 out of around 1000 students.

STUDENTS FOR STUDENTS 2018

On the initiative of our association, 19 very interested students from the University of Siegen and Freiburg started a new project in February and March 2018 together with the learning workshop of the University of Siegen.

Together with students from the University of Lomé, they got to know the country, people and culture of Togo. Side by side with 10 students from the same and other subjects at the University of Lomé, most of whom also spoke German, they spent a three-week internship in Togo. In the last week they carried out creative workshops on their own at various schools.

STARTUPS SINCE 2020

Some of the trainees in our program develop initial activities for a start-up during their training. They are supported mentally, in terms of content and financially by our association. Because new ideas of your own meet resistance again and again, various stumbling blocks have to be overcome, whether officially, in innovation, in cooperation.

5 startups are literally already at the start.

SUPPORT WITH SCHOOL FEES SINCE 2008

More and more often, some have to drop out of school because they can no longer pay the school fees. For various reasons, be it the loss of work by the parents, illness or accidents, which means that money can no longer be raised for school or because parents have died. Sometimes the pupils try to finance their school fees themselves through their work on the market once a week. But then they are missing in class. In the meantime, we have been able to cover the school fees for over 300 students so that they could achieve their Abitur.

VÖLKERBALL SINCE 2018

If we in Germany ask about dodgeball, whether big or small, everyone can tell something about it.

Now, little by little, many children and young people in Togo know Völkerball. Because in 2018 we brought the Völkerball mission to Togo on the initiative of a Cologne resident. At various schools in cooperation with the German clubs there was a lot of play. Thanks to donations in kind from the company Erima and small grants for the sporting meetings by us, there are now intensive dodgeball campaigns. We were able to get an idea of this at a tournament held by three schools in Lomé in July. Boys and girls showed us how they could organize what was already a professional tournament together, supported by sports and German teachers.

FIRST INITIATIVE TOGOHAUS COLOGNE 2006

In the Bürgerzentrum Nippes, Cologne from 09.06. until 06/24/2006. On the initiative of kommTOGOgehweiter eV there was the official World Cup fan camp of the Togolese national team, the TOGOHAUS, in cooperation with the Kulturamt Köln and the Bürgerzentrum Nippes. The aim of the benefit event was to make Togo better known locally and to “warm up” many citizens for future projects of our association.
